Having purchased Lightning models in the past, I knew what to expect and this model was no surprise. Speaking bluntly, this is more of a novelty item than anything else. Yes, it might actually work OK to extricate someone from a seatbelt but I would much rather have a Kershaw Barricade for that purpose. Likewise, as a combat/self-defense weapon I would not consider this an acceptable tool. However, it was worth every penny as a fidget/novelty knife that could actually be useful (if not ideal) in many non-critical cutting scenarios. NOTE: I had some failures to deploy initially. I disassembled the knife, sprayed it was CLP Break Free, used compressed air to remove the excess, and haven't seen a failure since. All-in-all, I like it for what it is.
