I bought the QSE-8TT as my second Quartermaster knife, EDC'ing the QSE-7TT "Mr. Spicoli" for the past 9 months, also from Perry Knife Works. The 7 is an exceptional knife, the 8? Well, a few fine points were missed in the making of this one but overall it's still an exceptional knife.
The choice of CPM154 blade still is still a great choice, it's a tough steel that takes a great edge and holds it well but is still fairly easily re-sharpened with the right tools and some determination.
This particular knife has been hit by downsizing, the specs listed on Quartermaster's website were not met. I bought it for the thick .20" blade like the Spicoli, but alas, they downgraded that to a .14" blade without making the change in the spec sheet.
Quality control on this particular knife was also a bit lacking and it needed some tweaks to make the flipper work as it should. Buttery smooth right out of the box was not this knife, the Spicoli, yes, this Doc Brown, sorry, they missed. Might have been a bad day at the office for someone, don't know.
PerryKnifeWorks does indeed offer a money back guarantee or will be more than happy to work with you on an exchange if you're not happy with the purchase though, just don't take the knife apart first. ;) I spoke with Jason on a couple of occasions and he was very helpful, straight up in his recommendations, not necessarily pushing a more expensive knife if a lesser cost blade would fit your needs better. I liked this about dealing with him, and give Perry Knife Works a full out 10 star rating.
Dealing with Quartermaster, however, has not been so easy. Caveat Emptor on this model of their line-up. (Ask Jason to check it for you, he will, and you'll be perfectly happy with it if you know it's a thinner blade and that's what you want.)
